A Very Roamsteaders Christmas: Cozy Stops, Festive Drinks & Holiday Traditions

Christmas for us is always a mix of cozy moments, local traditions, and getting outside—even when it’s cold. This year’s holiday season blended farm mornings, Virginia adventures, and festive food and drinks across Richmond and beyond. Here’s our Christmas roundup, from igloos and pop-ups to Santa hats on bikes.

☕ Foxtail Coffee — Short Pump, VA

A holiday season staple, Foxtail Coffee is the perfect place to warm up with a latte and ease into the Christmas spirit. With cozy interiors and seasonal drinks, it’s an easy stop when you want something festive without the chaos.

🎄 Wintergreen Resort — Winter in the Blue Ridge

There’s something magical about Wintergreen Resort during the holidays. Snow-dusted mountains, twinkle lights, and quiet winter views make it feel like a true Christmas escape tucked into the Blue Ridge.

🎁 CONNEX RVA — Richmond, VA

For thoughtful, locally made gifts, CONNEX RVA is a go-to. It’s a collective that highlights Richmond makers and creatives—perfect for meaningful Christmas shopping that supports small businesses. They have an awesome bar with THE BEST espresso martinis. They also have an “ice skating rink”. I use quotes because its fake ice, its literally plastic and you cannot really—skate.

❄️ Lola’s Farmhouse Bistro Igloos — Richmond, VA

Dining in the winter igloos at Lola’s Farmhouse Bistro feels like stepping into a Hallmark movie. Cozy blankets, twinkle lights, and comfort food make this one of our favorite festive dining experiences in the city. You will need reservations relatively far ahead of time!

🎄 Mosaic Restaurant Christmas Pop-Up — Richmond, VA

The Christmas pop-up at Mosaic Restaurant brings full holiday energy—festive décor, creative cocktails, and a playful atmosphere that’s perfect for a night out during the season. The spike hot chocolate was a favorite.

☕ Coffee at Home on the Farm

Some of our favorite Christmas moments didn’t require going anywhere at all. Slow mornings making coffee at home on the farm—windows fogged, animals stirring, and the quiet of winter—are the moments that ground everything else.

🎅 Cycling the Virginia Capital Trail in Santa Hats

One of our most fun traditions was cycling the Virginia Capital Trail in Santa hats. Stretching from Richmond to Williamsburg, the trail offers scenic views year-round—and adding a little Christmas flair made it even better.

🍸 Industrial Taphouse — Richmond, VA

For festive drinks in a laid-back setting, Industrial Taphouse delivered. It’s a solid stop for cocktails or beer when you want something seasonal without feeling overdone.

We wrapped up a few holiday outings with drinks at Tazza Kitchen—a warm, welcoming space that always feels right this time of year, whether it’s cocktails, wine, or just lingering conversation.

✨ Meadow Event Park Christmas Lights — Doswell, VA

A classic Virginia holiday tradition, the Christmas lights at Meadow Event Park are pure nostalgia. The drive-through display is packed with festive scenes and millions of lights, making it an easy, cozy way to soak in the holiday spirit—especially with hot drinks in hand and Christmas music playing.

🎅 Ruff Canine Club (Ruff Dog Park) — Meet the Grinch | Richmond, VA

One of the most fun (and chaotic-in-the-best-way) holiday stops was Ruff Canine Club, where pups could meet the Grinch himself. This indoor dog park and bar goes all-in on festive events, making it a great stop for dog parents who want to include their four-legged family members in the Christmas fun.

🍔 Beltie’s — Nelson County, VA

A must-stop when traveling through Nelson County, Beltie’s is a locally loved roadside spot known for its smash burgers, hot dogs, fries, and laid-back mountain vibe. Located along Route 151—Virginia’s craft beverage trail—Beltie’s is popular with both locals and travelers heading to or from Wintergreen. The casual setup, fast service, and comfort-food menu make it an easy, satisfying stop during the holiday season, especially after a day of mountain views or festive exploring.
