A homestead led by love for animals.

From rescues to farm favorites, our land exists to give animals safety, purpose, and care!

It all started when…

It all started when Katie climbed onto a horse at eight years old and never really got back off. Horses became her constant, and with them grew a lifelong dream of creating an animal rescue—a place where animals were safe, cared for, and deeply loved.

Shawn’s story began in the fields. Growing up on a farm shaped him early, teaching him the value of hard work, patience, and living close to the land. As life pulled him away from those roots, the pull back only grew stronger.

When we found our 15-acre homestead, it felt like coming home—for both of us. But we also knew we didn’t want to give up our love of travel and new experiences. Instead of choosing one life or the other, we learned to balance both.

By opening our farm to the community through petting zoos and farm animal events, we created a way to share the joy of the land while funding the care of our animals and the growth of our homestead. What started as a dream became a rhythm—rooted in the soil, fueled by curiosity, and built on the belief that you can live slowly at home while still roaming the world.

Our Residents

All residents on our farm are rescues. We strive to give animals in need a loving home. They pay it forward with greeting our many guests for petting zoos and birthday parties.

At Home In The Garden

At The Roamsteaders, sustainable living is woven into everyday life. Our greenhouse is where slow mornings meet thoughtful growing—seasonal vegetables, fresh herbs, and starts for our garden, all nurtured with care and intention. It allows us to grow more of our own food, reduce waste, and stay connected to the rhythms of the land, even as the seasons change.

For us, sustainability isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress, stewardship, and creating a home that supports both our family and the earth..
